Leie Carmody

Leie_webLeie Carmody, mezzo-soprano,  started singing at 11 when she and the Cantor at a New York Temple did the music for the children’s Saturday morning service.  She studied voice privately during her college years. In the years following, in Washington, D.C. and the Boston area, she was church and temple soloist; sang at weddings and for Women’s Clubs; performed in stage presentations of musicals; and was the featured soloist in oratorios, recitals, and other musical performances. Then after three decades devoted to her clinical practice, she returned to music and with an accompanist presented programs of lieder, arias, and show tunes at senior living facilities. She and her late husband found Venice in 2010 and now spends half her time here.

For four years she was on the faculty at the University of Georgia where she taught violin and music theory and was the violinist in the faculty trio.
