Barbara Griffin

Barbara GriffinBarbara Griffin, mezzo-soprano, moved with her husband David to Venice from Syracuse, NY in 2005. Barbara sang in the Syracuse Opera Chorus, as well as other choral groups, for nearly 30 years and performed various principal roles with the Company. Recipient of a Master's Degree in Vocal Performance from Syracuse University, she taught voice and performed as a soloist in central New York churches, in recital, and with chamber ensembles. Since moving to Venice she has sung with the Suncoast Chorale and performed the role of Mother Superior in The Sound of Music with Sarasota Players Theatre. She currently enjoys singing with Venice Musicale, Exsultate Chorus, and the choir at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Venice.

Ken Holton

Ken_Holton_webKen and His wife Prue have been traveling to Florida since 2004 and settled into a Bella Costa Condo in 2005.  Ken taught music for 34 years at the High School on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs CT.  During his teaching career he was a paid church soloist in Hartford CT churches and was hired by universities and other musical groups to sing mostly Oratorios. Besides his Oratorio work, Ken also sang with professional choruses around CT, notably making an appearance in NY’s Lincoln Center singing and soloing in the Bach B Minor Mass. He also spent a summer singing opera with the Music Vale Opera Company of New London CT. Ken is enjoying his time in Venice, participating in Venice Musicale activities and singing with the Exsultate chorus.

Paula Rothman

Paula_webPaula Rothman, clarinet, received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester where she studied with the late D. Stanley Hasty and was a member of the famed Eastman Wind Ensemble and Eastman Philharmonia. She received a Master of Music in Performance from Temple University and studied with the late Anthony Gigliotti, Principal clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Early musical training was at the Hartt College of Music of the University of Hartford. Paula has performed extensively as an orchestral and chamber musician in the Philadelphia area. She has performed in Israel and Eastern Europe. In the Delaware Valley she performs with La Musique des Amis, a piano, woodwind and string chamber ensemble.
