ELIZABETH “BETTY” BADAWI received her Bachelor of Music Education from Northwestern University and, until 1960, taught in Mount Prospect, Illinois, and Pullman, Washington. For the next 35 years she followed her husband’s international career, living in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Libya and Italy. During that time, she taught music, directed choirs, performed as pianist and vocal soloist, and directed community musicals. The Badawis moved to Venice in 2004.

NANCY BARUSSO has been playing music since age 9, beginning with piano, then clarinet and, finally, with oboe. Although she majored in French at Knox College and has an MBA from SUNY Binghamton, music always played an important role in her life. While living in Washington, DC, oboe was, for many years, her primary instrument, playing in numerous orchestras and chamber groups. After moving to Venice in 2017, she very happily began to concentrate on piano and is currently studying with a piano coach, playing duets, and performing with the Sarasota and Venice Piano Friends groups.

SYBIL BROH received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music from Northwestern University and was Music Coordinator in the Franklin Park, Illinois, public school system. After moving to Sarasota in 1999, she worked as both a choral and solo accompanist and performed piano solos and duets in concert.

MARY EGBERTSON received a BA in Music from State University of New York and a Master’s of Music Education from the Ford School of Music, Ithaca College. Upon completion of her education, Mary served on the faculty of the Ithaca Community School of Music and Arts until she moved away from New York State. Mary had held positions as church choir and worship director, taught music in the public schools, and maintained a private piano studio for more than 35 years. She has performed as a piano soloist and accompanist throughout her career. Mary has served as President of Venice Musicale, is currently a piano accompanist for the Venice Musicale Encore Chorus, and has been a member of Suncoast Duo Pianists since 2014.

ANN RUSSELL OWENS holds a B.S. in Music Education from the University of Tennessee and an M.A. in Musicology from Ohio State University. She taught classroom music in primary schools, and choral music in high schools. She taught music appreciation, as well as classroom piano and private piano lessons at the college level. With another teacher, Ann established a music conservatory where she taught for 20 years, before turning to a second career in law. She earned two law degrees—a J.D. from Villanova University and an L.L.M. (graduate degree in tax law) from Boston University.  She worked as a corporate tax attorney for 23 years before retiring to Sarasota, when she was able to return to playing the piano. She currently studies with a master teacher and participates in several music groups, and enjoys the many concerts that the Venice and Sarasota areas offer.

CYNTHIA SCHEIN started formal piano lessons at the age of five, and has continued with her love and performance of music ever since. As a teenager she was pianist with the youth symphony in Westport, CT, and was active as a pianist with her high school symphony and in musicals.  She graduated from Hood College with a BA in Music and studied piano as well at Penn State University and in the Netherlands. She was Co-Founder and Director of the Music Academy, still in operation as a community music school founded in 1963 in State College, PA. She accompanied vocalists in the Department of Music at Penn State, as well as participating in Arts Festivals with her duet partner, or as an accompanist. She also taught in the department of Continuing Education at Penn State. Music continued to be an important part of her life as accompanist, chamber player, and pianist with the Nittany Valley Symphony in Pennsylvania. Since moving to Florida, Cinny has been playing with Suncoast Duo Pianists as well as individually on programs with Venice Musicale, and as pianist with Strings Con Brio in Sarasota.
